Cigaragua

Located in the south side of the center of Amsterdam at the Van Baerlestraat 58H this Cigar Lounge is in the centre of everything. Next to the The Royal Concertgebouw and with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam right across the street it is a great location to get away from it all after being a tourist all day long.

The focus of the Lounge is on Cigars from Nicaragua, hence the name Cigaragua. The store is owned by Sasja van Horssen who has several other stores as well (in Rotterdam and ‘s Hertogenbosch). Sasja only works there on Saturday, so keep that in mind if you want to meet him in person. He is also the owner of the Longfiller Company, responsible for importing many cigars to the Netherlands.

The Humidor is large one of the largest I have encountered in the Netherlands. The selection is all from Nicaragua (except for one cigar that I found when I was exploring the humidor). There are many brands here that you have heard from, and since it is such a large humidor the selection of these brands is wide. For instance, they have such a collection of Padron cigars that I have never seen before.

The Lounge is 87 m2, and very relaxed, it is a long room with a TV at the end. There are many pictures on the wall from the Esteli trip that Sasja has made a few years ago. There can sit 36 people here and so far it has not been very crowded the times that I came to visit. There is coffee and tea available in the room, and when you ask for it there are also alcoholic beverages like whisky, rum and wine.

The service is good, depending on who helps you, you have an excellent opinion on the cigars. Not everyone has the same experience, but they are frank about this and that makes it a good place to return to.

My appreciation of the place:
